As we “spring forward” for daylight saving time, many of us feel the effects of losing an hour of sleep. While the extra evening sunlight is great for outdoor activities, the time change can throw off workout routines, sleep cycles, and energy levels. But don’t worry—we’ve got tips to help you stay on track and make the most of the transition!

Embrace the Change with a Positive MindsetThe time shift is a great opportunity to refresh your fitness goals. Whether you’re focused on building strength, improving endurance, or simply staying consistent, approaching the transition with a proactive mindset can set you up for success.

Revamp Your Routine for Maximum EnergyIf daylight saving time disrupts your usual schedule, try these strategies to stay energized and motivated:
  • Switch to Morning Workouts: If darker evenings make evening workouts feel sluggish, consider moving your routine to the morning. Take advantage of the crisp air with an outdoor swim or a game of tennis before work.
  • Join a Group Class: If solo workouts feel tough, let the energy of a group push you forward! Our yoga, spin, and TRX classes are great ways to stay accountable while boosting both mental and physical well-being.
  • Stay Consistent: Your body will adjust to the new time faster if you maintain regular sleep and meal patterns. Try to wake up and work out at the same time each day to help regulate your internal clock.

Fuel Your Body for PerformanceWith the shift in season, your body’s needs may change too! Keep yourself feeling strong and energized by:
  • Eating balanced meals with seasonal veggies and lean proteins to fuel your workouts.
  • Staying hydrated—especially if you're using the steam room or sauna to relax post-workout.
  • Choosing high-protein post-workout snacks to aid muscle recovery after training in our state-of-the-art gym.

Maximize Your Lakeridge Athletic Club ExperienceNeed variety? We’ve got you covered! Beyond the treadmills and weights, try:
  • Racquetball, pickleball, or bocce for a fun, active way to stay fit.
  • The hot tub for post-workout recovery and soothing sore muscles.
  • Guidance from our expert trainers to keep your workouts effective and tailored to your goals.

Stay Connected & MotivatedAt Lakeridge Athletic Club, we’re more than just a gym—we’re a supportive fitness community. Engage with fellow members in classes, on the courts, or even in the lobby. Sharing experiences and celebrating victories together can keep you inspired!
So, let’s embrace daylight saving time with energy and enthusiasm. Yes, we may lose an hour of sleep, but we gain a chance to recommit to our fitness goals with fresh motivation.

See you at the club—let’s make this season our strongest yet!
